Kill the Actress

Title:  Captivity
Actors/Director/Anything Worth Mentioning Right Away:  The girl from “The Girl Next Door” is in this.  I’m not sure why else you might know this, other than it being a non-8 Films To Die For movie made by After Dark Films.
Introduction:  I bought this DVD from Walgreens for four dollars because of the After Dark label.  I may have overpaid.
Location:  In a house or some such place, where they’re being held… dare I say it… captive!
Plot:  People are being held hostage against their will and are being tortured.   One of them is an actress, and she’s exposed all of her deepest darkest fears in interviews.   Now the captor is using them against her.   Blah blah blah.    This is kind of like “Saw”, only with a slight variation, and what’s more so is that it has the girl from “The Girl Next Door” in it.   Because this does center on an actress, I do wish that one day this would become true.   Or, since I know it never will, I can picture all of those actresses that I hate- Megan Fox, Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, Eva Mendes, and why not, even this girl in it- having this happen to them.
Acting:  The acting is decent, which is expected because the main girl has done other movies.
Production:  It could be in theaters, yeah, it looks that good.
Sex/Nudity:  Nope, just blood.  (Well, okay, there is a sexual scene, but no nudity- just voyeurism)
Special Effects:  The effects are really good, especially when it starts raining acid on some girl.
Overall Verdict:  In an interview once, regarding Cabin Fever, Eli Roth said that people might watch the film because Rider Strong is in it and he’s best known for being on Boy Meets World.   Well, this could prompt people who hated that show to want to see him die.   True enough.   I guess if you felt like “The Girl Next Door” was softcore teenage porn and didn’t deserve to be a movie, then maybe you want to see this girl die.  Maybe you just hope she gets naked in this.   I don’t know and I don’t really care.   This movie has enough gore that watching it once is justified, but beyond that I wouldn’t really want to watch it again probably.    So, if you like movies like Saw, watch this one once, give it a shot.   If not, then, you know, onto the next episode.
