Top 30 Greatest Movies of All-Time # 20
Title: The Devil’s Rejects
Actors/Director/Anything Worth Mentioning Right Away: Too many to list, but I love the roles by Brian Posehn and PJ Soles.
Introduction: As a sequel, it was only a matter of time before I saw this.
Location: All over Texas somewhere.
Plot: The follow up to The House of 1000 Corpses, this movie follows a family of killers who have been dubbed The Devil’s Rejects by the authorities. The majority of this movie consists of them being on the run from the law, and thus meeting people and killing them along the way. Think of it as like Roadtrip or Harold and Kumar only with more bloodshed.
Acting: It’s really, really good. Bill Moseley especially puts on an excellent performance as Otis.
Production: It was in theaters.
Sex/Nudity: Yes and yes.
Special Effects: People get shot, blood stains on the wall, you know the drill.
Overall Verdict: This movie has a real 1970’s horror vibe to it. Back when I first heard “More Human Than Human” (and Kurt Loder’s funny pronouncing of it) if you had told me that Rob Zombie could make a horror movie that was this good I wouldn’t have believed you. Despite the premise of this movie, it makes me really happy. Some people put on those sappy movies with happy endings where long lost loves reunite or whatever, but this is my feel good movie (Well, one of them). I never grow tired of this movie and can always put it on to make me feel better or just if there is nothing else to watch. Is it sick and twisted that this movie takes me to my happy place? Yes, but this movie is sick and twisted and so am I.
